7th Grade Batik Tapestries
Batik is a way of dying cloth in colorful designs and patterns by first applying a resist. 7th Graders learned about the continent of Africa and the various places batik processes have been used. They used African imagery to design their cloth. Then, they applied a resist to their fabric of water, flour and alum. Finally, the students designed and sewed their tapestries.
