2nd Grade Clowns of God
The 2nd Grade illustrated their own clowns in the style of Tomie dePaola. They used colored pencil to outline and watercolor to fill in the spaces of these clowns. The students drew their juggling items on clear plastic and made moveable arms using brads and wire.
“If you give happiness to people you give glory to God as well.”
Clowns: A History
A jester, court jester or fool was historically an entertainer during the medieval and Renaissance eras. The jester was a member of the household of a nobleman and employed to be an entertainer. A jester was also an itinerant (traveling) performer who entertained common folk at fairs and markets. Jesters in medieval times are often thought to have worn brightly colored clothes and eccentric hats in a motley pattern. In medieval times jesters entertained with a wide variety of skills: principal ones included songs, music, and storytelling; additional ones included acrobatics, juggling, telling jokes, and magic.
Much of the entertainment was performed in a comic style and many jesters made contemporary jokes in word or song about people or events well known to their audiences. Modern day jesters entertain using a wide variety of skills including stilt walking, fire performance and circus workshops. (Source: Wikipedia)
